Lesson 1 Sales Process Head Photo

Have you been looking to start your custom packaging journey but no clue where to start, how it works, or have some unanswered questions about the process? This article (along with video) breaks down the sales process from when you first reach out to us, to getting your packaging in hand. Walk through the steps with BCP Jakob as he shows you the ropes on how we get down with our clients.

The Cook Up

1: It Goes Down In The DM’s (and elsewhere…)

Every project starts with you reaching out to our team. Whether you slid in our DMs, shot us a call, or filled out a form on our website, you hit us up looking to elevate or bring a new brand to life. We see that, we love that, and we connect with you to discuss further.

2: Discovering Your Brand

Now that we’ve connected its time to get down to details. Our team will work with you to go through the “discovery” phase of your brand discussing colors, styles, themes, logos, packaging options and so on. The goal of the discovery phase is to figure out exactly what you’re looking for, walk you through the different options there are, and working together as a team to create something dope for you to pop out with.

3: Quoting & Cash Outs

After we’ve cooked up a fire game plan for your project, our team hits the kitchen to cook you up a quote that lays out everything we’re doing. You’ll get an email from us with your quote and a break down of the terms & conditions of working with us. Carefully read the quote over and ask your rep any questions you may have. Once you’ve confirmed everything in the quote looks good and you are happy, you’ll hit the Green Thumbs Up “Approve” button. This shows us you’re serious and ready to move forward. For orders under $1,000 we take payment in full up front. For projects over $1,000 we accept a 65% deposit down, with the rest being owed before we ship or you pickup.

The Design

4. Chefs Hit The Kitchen

Now that your paid up and ready to rip, your project gets passed off to our 5 star design chefs. With years of experience designing for some of the most influential brands in the game, you can assure your project is in amazing hands. The initial design process takes about 1-2 weeks depending on workload although most clients typically get their first draft within the first week.

5. Tweaking The Recipe

When the designer finishes your initial draft you’ll get an email with the proofs attached. You’ll be prompted to review the proofs, check it over, and let us know what you think. There is a green thumbs up if you approve, or a red thumbs down if you disapprove.

If you plan to Accept the proof please review the following list of things to check over. Once a proof is approved, that exact proof will be sent to production. Changes will not be able to be made once the project is in production and has been printed so please take your sweet time checking every aspect of your design to avoid any print problems later on.

  • Spelling! We are human and can make mistakes, please check over the spelling of everything and note if you notice any spelling errors
  • Weights, Percentages, Product Information! Please look over and make sure all weights, percentages and product information is correct. These can be easily overlooked and missed on all avenues of the design process, so please take the extra time to look and make sure any weights, milligrams, percentages or important information on your product is correct and if its not, please note it in the feedback box
  • Check QR Codes! Double check the QR codes on the packaging to make sure they point to the exact link you want. We deal with hundreds of QR codes and can get mixed up sometimes. Please double check your QR code to ensure it goes to the correct link.
  • Formatting! Make sure your happy with the overall design and formatting of the design. If there is anything you’d like to change, please bring it to the attention of the designer so they can make the necessary changes to bring your vision to life.

If the initial proof is not up to your standards no worries! Reject the proof and write down all of the changes and notes you have in the feedback box so the designer knows what to change. Note: Most designs come with 3 revisions, so please be sure to get as many changes as you can within each revision so you do not go over your limit. This helps mitigate back and forth as well as any additional charges that may come from added revisions.

6. Chef’s Kiss (approval)
